In Indonesië wordt de overledene gewikkeld in een witte doek, de “kain kafan”, tijdens de begrafenis. De doek wordt stevig vastgebonden om de overledene te beschermen tijdens zijn reis naar het graf.

De Pocong is een geest die eruitziet als iemand gewikkeld in zo’n lijkwade. Soms keert deze geest terug, niet altijd om angst te zaaien, maar soms gewoon om een boodschap over te brengen.
