This week on Perception Frequencies, we have Madeline @soft.content, a Chicago based DJ, curator, and producer whose work sits at the heart of the city’s house and techno underground. Originally from the Bay Area, they moved to Chicago at 18 and has since become a defining presence within the city’s queer and electronic music communities.

Madeline’s sets are atmospheric and sensual, weaving vocal forward selections with raw, jacking acid baselines that channel the spirit of Chicago’s dance floors while pushing them into new territory. With a deep respect for the lineage of house and techno, Madeline crafts journeys that balance emotional depth with driving, physical rhythm.

A long-standing resident at the legendary Smartbar, Madeline curates their monthly Statement Piece, a quarterly party series that showcases global artists that share their vision and commitment to uplifting boundary-pushing sets.

Beyond Chicago, Madeline has carried their sound to international dance floors, performing in cities such as Berlin and Toronto. Their deep musical knowledge is rooted in years of community engagement and crate-digging, spending a decade hosting radio on WNUR 89.3FM and working at the historic Gramaphone Records.

the fantasy daddy remix EP is now out on all platforms 🥳 a few years ago my friend @ferrademusic reached out to make a fab proggy version of this song which ended up in @arielzetina’s RA mix and caught the ear of @jaw_jones who put his own spin on it, prompting @kk_nark to suggest a full release on @bottom_forty and bring @danielladeluna and @m_cignarale on board to round it out 🎨 brought to life with beautiful cover art by @jaxx.x.x.x.x
