Scene Shop Foreman John Del Bono is one of the many talented artisans working behind the scenes at the Opera. In his over 25 years with San Francisco Opera, John has played a vital role in building and repairing the Opera's many original productions as Scene Shop Foreperson.
For John, one of the most thrilling moments in building a set is when the production gets handed off to the stage crew. After weeks or months of building, the set leaves the scene shop to become something alive; shaped by the performers, the lighting, and the music.
The support of donors like you is what makes these moments possible. Thanks to a matching grant from an anonymous company sponsor, all gifts made by July 31 will be matched 2:1! Visit the link in our bio to make your gift today.
