Next Friday, May 29th, join us at Scribe Video Center for a screening of THE SIGHT UNSEEN (2026, 35 min) with filmmaker Shawn Antoine II.
THE SIGHT UNSEEN is a hybrid film revisiting the miraculous events of 1971 in the Bronx, when Sharon, a local woman, discovered a glowing cross in her apartment window. This extraordinary phenomenon drew crowds from across the community, becoming a moment of collective awe and curiosity. Now, 53 years later, Sharon shares her vivid memories of that time, providing a deeply personal lens on an event that has lingered in the hearts of those who witnessed it. The film combines the writings of Melvin Tapley, a journalist for the Amsterdam News, andSharon's memories, building an evocative portrayal of the Bronx during this period.
Shawn Antoine II is a documentary and experimental filmmaker whose work centers on memory, identity, and preserving underrepresented Black histories.

Join us on Thursday, May 21st for the second installment of the spring Street Movies! Undercover screening & performance series. 🍅 🐝 🌷
Scribe Video Center and Camden FireWorks present FOUR documentary shorts exploring Environmental Justice! The film program will feature Sundance ‘26 Award Winner, THE BOYS AND THE BEES (2025) directed by Arielle Knight, A TRIBE CALLED CAMDEN (2026) directed by Justin DeGuzman, Christian Hayden’s premiere of I SPOKE TO A TOMATO PLANT (2026), which follows gardeners in the Mantua and Belmont area of Philadelphia, and EVE'S GARDEN (2007), which documents the story of a lush urban garden in the middle of Camden’s urban-industrial waterfront, made collaboratively by local residents through Scribe’s Precious Places Community History Project.
Performances by Jay Friday (@tjif_artistry) and Rieko Safiyya (@riekosafiyya) will precede the screening program and community discussion.

What is Video DJing? Video artist Rashid Zakat will explore this question through our upcoming four-week workshop - EXPERIMENTAL PRACTICES: VIDEO DJING.
Push the art of DJing in the visual realm. Participants will use a range of editing programs to create haptic audiovisual content and be introduced to non-linear editing styles for the purpose of creating their own video remixes.
