The task at hand was to create a unique backdrop out of Mexican food. I tested masa, tortillas, etc. yet they lacked. Here comes corn husks! The perfect material that’s able to be glued, it’s affordable, able to be sourced in large quantities, and can take different forms. The team did have to iron, steam, and fringe each individual husk. Truly a labor of love and teamwork! This backdrop will stay as one of my all time favorites, for the challenge it provided, the team that bonded, and the final unique look. Thanksgiving was a few months ago, yet I’m still thankful & grateful for this carnival installation. (I think everyday should be Thanksgiving filled with gratitude btw). After months of drawings, preparation, & testing, the carnival and bowling alleys were amazing to see them come to life. Sending appreciation to everyone involved. We all made this!

Love can be shown in may ways not just to a each other. My dad always emphasized, “Pero haslo con amor” in everything we make. I took that to heart as a child and it never left me. When I’m creating, it’s like tunnel vision. You look, listen, and care. You keep trying until the piece works out.
