Been running the @proofresearch PXT for over a year now and can finally talk about it.

Short version: it delivered.

Ran it through the Gas Gun Division at the @gaprecision GAP Grind, @quantified.performance , and @thegasgunshow finale, came home with wins from all 3. The platform was a @sonsoflibertygw Broadsword with an 18” PXT in .223, @vortexoptics Razor 6-36, @ottercreeklabs Infinity w/ brake, running @hornadymfg 73 ELD-M in @shellshocktech and @hodgdonpowdercompany

What impressed me most was the range it was comfortable across. I’m talking 2750 all the way past 3100 fps depending on the load and it just kept printing small groups. It really showed its capability at the Grind on those Pro targets. Hammering first round impacts at sub MOA steel.

After a year of competition and training I can say this barrel earns the hype. Looking forward to pushing it further in upcoming matches and getting more PXT barrels into the rotation across different calibers.

PROOF PXT

What a time to be alive, where manufacturers are defying the norm.

I got my @proofresearch PXT barrel last week and decided to break it in at the @nrlhunter @defiancemachine Anti-Social.
I’ll do a full review on my YouTube channel sooner than later, but after talking to the team at PROOF and digging into the data they’ve collected, this technology is pretty dope.

Quick summary.
1. The bullet doesn’t slam into the rifling. Traditional barrels engage the projectile at roughly a 6° angle and spin it up to full twist rate inside the first quarter inch, but PXT softens that engagement by 95 to 98%, starting closer to 1:250 to 1:500 and progressively accelerating down the bore.
2. The rifling profile is different. PROOF reworked the land geometry into a smoother edged profile that reduces engraving force on the bullet by around 30%, which means less projectile deformation, less wear on the lands, and slower throat erosion.
3. What it means for the consumer. PROOF’s testing is showing 30 to 100% longer barrel life before accuracy falls off, plus 20 to 50% tighter groups across different ammunition and lot variations. For a competitor or hunter, that translates to more rounds on a barrel before truing it and more consistency when you can’t get the same lot of ammo twice.

Pretty excited to start collecting my own data on this thing and see how it holds up over real round counts. I’ll report back honestly, good or bad.
