It’s been a while since I’ve shared my work in my own way on here, but I’ve got a lot to share lately, so here it goes...

This was a project for two pairs of sunglasses for a Cherry Blossoms launch this spring. For those who don’t know, I have an architecture degree and have always loved and had a knack for building scale models, so what a perfect fit to build a Japanese garden, duh. Complete with 25 miniature cherry blossom trees, a pagoda, a zen garden and a bridge over a pond, it was a task. I probably put 100 hours into this model, building it from scratch, but it was great to flex the model-building muscles that have been dormant for so long and fully immerse myself in this one. Scroll to the end for process photos showing the foam topography, the plaster/insulation texture layer, static grass and finally a resin pour for the pond. The coolest thing about the model for me, other than how it looked in the end, was that it was modular, so I could take the two 2’ x 4’ boards and switch them to get a very different layout of the landscape, while all of the grades and paths lined up. I loved making this little world to play in with the product and only wish I had more time and energy at the time to do even more, perhaps a motion piece in addition to the stills. Big shout out to my wife @mr.licia for all of her help with the cherry blossom trees 🌸🩵
