Amanda K Woodcock
Potter, Glass Artist, Product Designer and Mechanical Engineer, making funky and functional iridescent pottery and glassware ✨✨
I’ve loved watching the Instagram community come together in support of the woman who wrote this song and her son. It’s proof of what we are capable of when we come together. ✨
Anyway, here’s a Timelapse of me filling up some molds! It takes about 25 gallons of slip to fill all the molds I have in production right now. That number goes up and down depending on the time of year, what products I am focusing on, etc. All of the slip except the hardened “shell” that will become the finished piece is dumped back in the tank and used again.
I am on a little break from ceramics right now, and I am starting to miss being in the studio! Excited to get back in the mud and make some magic rainbow pottery ✨✨

Amanda is a spark. A spark of a human that inspires joy, creativity, using her engineering brain to create the most stunning works art @modernscienceproject - tireless energy traveling to all the coolest makers markets, she’s off to Seattle this week. She has an artists haven at @thepotteryatascadero that I love visiting as it inspires me to bring color into my life in all the ways. She’s planted a flower garden at the home they are rebuilding here in Atown and she popped in with some flowers for us the other day that matched her vibe and @krewe frames, she wears the Charlie in chartreuse and we just ordered her another brand new one because we’ve decided it is HER frame & identity.
Amanda I love knowing you. 💜

I put these in my stories last night but it was really fun to display the final pieces alongside the original inspo image so I decided it deserved a place on my feed too!
I start all my combos with reference images. I’ve actually made 200+ test tiles of underglazes or mixed underglazes recipes that I digitized using a calibrated color reader, so I can color match as close as possible to said reference image. This method is maybe overkill, but it’s helped me really understand commercial underglazes and their application. Given how well the final pieces match the inspo, I think my method worked!
Which one is your favorite??
Oh btw these are all coming to my website today at 3pm pacific 😘

✨ By Her Hands | March 14 | Downtown Atascadero ✨
One of the coolest things about Atascadero is the HUGE number of independent, women-owned businesses in our downtown! I am so proud to count myself as one of them!
Modern Science Project and The Pottery Atascadero are excited to be part of By Her Hands, a one-day celebration of women and women-identifying artists, makers, and business owners in Downtown Atascadero. Come support all these rad ladies!
Join the Walkabout on Saturday, March 14 from 4–7pm and explore downtown as local businesses host artists and makers. It’s a chance to meet the people behind the work, shop locally made goods, and experience the creativity happening in our community.
I’ll be popping up to sell some new goodies, straws, and seconds in @thepotteryatascadero
Stop by to see ceramics, art, plants, photography, and handmade goods while connecting with the artists and small businesses that help make our town such a special place.
We hope you’ll come wander downtown, support local makers, and celebrate the hands and creativity behind the work.
