Resolute Indigenous figures take center stage amidst sacred symbols, patterns, and flowing water, symbolizing our interconnectedness and the importance of Indigenous representation.

Also inspired by diverse cultures, including African, Afro-Latin, Mexican, Central and South American, the mural celebrates Sunset Park's vibrant community and harmoniously integrates local flora and fauna from Greenwood Cemetery.

"OLLIN MOVEMENT"

One of the paintings featured in my solo exhibition "Ni De Aquí Ni De Allá".

The OLLIN is an ancient symbol, rooted in Aztec/Mexica cosmology and the Nahuatl language, signifies movement, transformation, and cosmic energy.
The original image was photographed on the "R" Train in Manhattan by my friend @mosesmitchellI was working on my street vendor series during this time and we captured a special moment of a mother with child selling candy on the subway train. The child woke up for a split second when the train made a sudden movement then went back to a peaceful sleep. @mosesmitchell caught that moment and the painting came soon after. This piece represents our struggle and movement towards independence and a brighter future for our children. Incorporating the OLLIN symbol, graffiti subway car and indigenous textiles is my way of telling authentic stories through lived experiences.

The child woke up for a split second when the train made a sudden movement then went back to a peaceful sleep. @mosesmitchell caught that moment and the painting came soon after. This piece represents our struggle and movement towards independence and a brighter future for our children. Incorporating the OLLIN symbol, graffiti subway car and indigenous textiles is my way of telling authentic stories through lived experiences.

The original painting of Corazón Ancestral is part of my "Ni De Aquí Ni De Allá " solo exhibition that was abruptly taken down by UNT. The painting represents connection to our ancestors and the land our indigenous roots are from. We did not cross the border it crossed us! It also celebrates our dual identity. Millions of us were raised in the U.S by immigrant parents who passed on traditions from our homeland and it's why we cherish two homes that we love.

The new installation from Booker T. graduate Victor Quiñonez, who uses the artist name Marka27, arrives at a pivotal moment. Just a few days earlier, Quiñonez’s other touring exhibition, Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá, had been abruptly shuttered at the University of North Texas. The exhibit included artwork featuring the language: “Immigration and Cruelty Enforcement.” He learned of the cancellation from students and said he is still being “ghosted by UNT.” ⁠
