How do you capture a trip like this in a few photos? You don’t, but you can try. A week wasn’t nearly enough to fully explore Lisbon and Marrakesh but @thenickguy and I gave it a good shot. From walking a truly silly number of miles up and down the hills of Lisbon to tasting all the ginjinha, pasteis del nata and tinned fish we could find, to wandering the souks and palaces of Marrakesh and riding camels (bucket list for me), we had a truly amazing adventure.

As some may have seen on my stories, I capped it all offby having a seizure in the Marrakesh train station on our last day, because I like to go out on a bang. I’ll be fine; just got a few bumps and bruises and a lil gash in the head on the way down that needed stitching up (the headdress is a little over-dramatic but apparently that’s my brand).

Endlessly thankful for the kind security guards who responded and the nurses and doctors at the nearby hospital who patched me up — and that my wonky nervous system waited until we were on our way outta town to act a fool. People the world over are essentially good. I really believe that, and next trip, I’ll call the question in less dramatic fashion.

I cannot express the gratitude I feel today to the incomparably brilliant, sensitive and motivated @lizzschumer and @people for publishing this very personal essay of mine today about my cancer, my book, my family. I love @people — this is a thrill! And one of my bffs @merrittintheeveryday took the photo of my family. This is the first time I’ve ever put my kids in a magazine or on social media. Might be the last! Ha. I did it because I was so touched by @lizzschumer — her edit, her beautiful enthusiasm. It made me feel ready to jump. And Rachel knows how to photograph a family! She made it so easy, made us all feel safe, loved. She’s in the essay, too! So are @walkoverfarm , @jessicarmellon , @emmastark , @nora.calderwood , @adamdarter , @leahkyoko @davisdaniele207 , Mark Kelly and Rob Riggs @savagestoneknives . My friends— you guys changed my life, healed me. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ @mainehealth thank you for the good care you took! Mo if you see this, I ❤️u & Led Zeppelin 4 ever. Link in bio👆( I’ll post full essay soon—on the road today to @hilltown.commons 4 event 2 mrw . Here’s the link, too, if you want to copy paste… but I promise it’s above and that link works! https://people.com/i-gave-a-character-cancer-then-got-it-too-exclusive-11976504)

Thrilled to share this @people essay about the queer women from my childhood in rural Maine who continue to inspire me in middle age. Their true-to-themselves boldness runs all the way through SURRENDER.

You can read at your own pace here:

Enormously grateful to @apossanza @lavenderpublicrelations and @lizzschumer @people for their careful attention to this piece, making it better at every step—and for including so many goat pictures!

Marilyn Monroe is an icon, and our latest cover story showcases not just her beauty and indomitable spirit, but the woman she was when the cameras stopped rolling. This exclusive book excerpt, including her final interview and photos from her last shoot, as well as an interview with a man who knew her when took months to wrangle and I’m so, so thrilled to finally share it with you all. On stands everywhere Friday!

As a pretty much lifelong fan of @americangirlbrand, you bet I jumped at the chance to chat with some of the people behind the company for a @people feature on a new book about how it all came to be. Can you believe American Girl turns 40 this year? Swipe to see my trio of dolls I dug out of my parents’ basement last weekend!

Is this a safe space to admit I’ve never watched Beverly Hills, 90210? It was a privilege to get to know @jenniegarth through this book and beautifully written profile by @gilliantelling.
