Nuclear energy is NOT a viable, safe, or sustainable solution to Oklahomaβs energy needs. The majority of this power will not benefit Oklahoma residents; it will be used to fuel data centers that harm rural communities and contribute to cumulative environmental risks.
Today we honor Indigenous Peoplesβ Day by recognizing the deep connection between land, health, and sovereignty.
The Tar Creek Superfund Site has affected land belonging to nine tribal nations. For decades, contamination has forced families to leave, eroding not only the environment but also cultural ties to place.
Restoring Tar Creek isnβt just about cleaning up the remnants of toxic mining, itβs about protecting the right to live safely on ancestral land.

Deadline for comments to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission is Oct 10! Approval to build nuclear power plants will lead to increased consumer electricity bills and create hazardous nuclear waste, which historically has been disproportionately disposed of on Indigenous lands, leading to higher rates of cancer and other chronic diseases. This is #EnvironmentalInjustice!
