The Magic of Creativity✨
Is turning an idea in the real of dreams, into an object of the physical world.
This gives me goosebumps. It’s is what I live for!
Julia Duff Jewellery is handmade, by me.
I have a small home studio with basic tools, but the main production happens @studio.patina
Where I am luck enough to spend some hours of my week working in Sandra’s beautiful workshop.
What I love about handmade jewellery is that the production method is traceable.
It’s slow fashion, with integrity! Each step is carefully crafted with love.
My design process starts with a dream, a thought, a spark.
Then comes a sketch to check the proportions and imagine it’s wearability & functionality.
Next, the materials get thrown in the mix. What shall I make it from? How thick should it be?
Some testing & experimenting usually takes place, with adjustment and tweaks made to the design when necessary.
The making part involves an array of tools and techniques.
Some elements only need to be assembled and welded,
Others need to be bent, soldered and polished.
3D cast elements need to be filed, sanded and tumbled.
The last step in the process in the Platinum plating, which add some protection to the Sterling Silver surface.
And then the dream has come true.
The object is complete. Ready to wear & shine in.
