For years, I thought working harder, showing up more, and leaning into spaces meant to celebrate BPOC LGBTQ artists would naturally open doors for me. Sometimes it did. Sometimes it didn’t.

And honestly, it’s exhausting feeling like talent alone isn’t enough. Like it becomes a game of who you know, who you align with, or whether you fit neatly into what people want you to be.

The truth is, every single time I show up as Jay Saint, I show up at a high level. The music, the visuals, the performances, the work ethic, the consistency… none of it is accidental. I’ve dedicated years of my life to this craft.

But one thing I’ll never do is change myself for acceptance. I know who I am. I know the level of artist I am.

So I’ll continue creating fire music, powerful visuals, and showing up fully as myself. And I trust the spaces meant for me will celebrate me loudly and without hesitation.

Maybe God’s plan was never for me to beg for rooms that needed convincing anyway.
