The second release from Ojas Music—Elyria Sound is a solo guitar album from Michael A. Muller, recorded and mixed via analog tape during a winter storm.

Each piece was captured live in single passes to a one-inch tape machine, the most direct path from fingertip to magnetic oxide.

Elyria Sound was developed with experimental guitar tunings, yielding a relearning the instrument’s language. The outcome moves between lullaby and lament: spare, cyclical compositions where motifs recur at differing angles and tempos, variations on a central thread.
Recorded and mixed by the multi Grammy award-winning engineer Jonathan Low, the album was mastered to tape with lacquer cut in Germany by Frederic Stader. The release partners with The Vinyl Factory; plated and pressed at the former-EMI plant on the outskirts of London.

Last year I traveled to a desolate corner of the sea coast of England, set up a studio, all to work with an artist I had never met. What came of that is Subtract (-) by @teddysphotos. The gravity of life dictated what would become a cathartic and intimate collaboration. 🙏🏻 to Ed for taking us all on a journey with you.

Thanks for having me play a small role on this brilliant album. @pieterjanmaertens and @jofrancken crafted some beautiful worlds and textures while maintaining an epic sense of space.
