When Australian winemakers started championing solo grape varieties and listing their names on the front label, blended wines largely became a little less chic here in Australia. 🕰️ But historically, all manner of varieties – some that are no longer often employed – found their way into blends that were labelled with names like ‘Claret’ or ‘Hermitage’, prioritising style over variety.

Fortunately, a new generation of progressive winemakers are breathing life into Australia’s blended red traditions. 🌬️These makers are creating fresh takes on classic combinations such as the ubiquitous GSM (grenache, shiraz and mourvèdre) and Australia’s homegrown cabernet shiraz blend – as well as coming up with a few new combinations of their own.

This here is the woman who inspires me everyday. She just passed a mega crazy hard exam. 12 months of study and sacrifice. She took every bit of it in her stride. There were a couple of tears but there were plenty of laughs too. If anyone needs a joint replaced I know a person. Nice work Kezzie ❤️
