I discovered the Polaroid emulsion lift at Les Rencontres de la photographie in Arles last year and decided to try it myself. I put together a little series of beautiful places and things that I discovered in Montpellier when I arrived here in the summer. It’s a fun technique with a limited amount of time for each Polaroid, it’s fiddly and imperfect and I love it. Especially the fact that you get to hold something in your hands that you made. Will share some of the results with you soon ✨

Ich habe immer gedacht es wäre besser hier bloß nichts zu privates zu teilen, das würde ja nicht in die Fotografie-Nische hineinpassen, in der ich mich mit meinem Account befinde. Also habe ich mir vor einem Dreivierteljahr einen zweiten Insta Account erstellt, mit dem Gedanken dort privates zu teilen. Um jetzt zu merken, dass ich meist hin und her gerissen bin, auf welchem Account ich etwas posten soll, was genau jetzt besser zu welchem Account passt, immerhin soll der Foto-Account ja auch nahbar wirken.

Letztlich ist es doch einfach egal. Wir sind alle vielschichtig. Wir sind nicht irgendwelche Kategorien, und erst recht nicht nur eine einzige. Es steht noch so viel bevor in all unseren Leben und mit solchen alten Gedankenmustern setzen wir uns nur unnötige Limits. Also von jetzt an - weniger Nischendenken, mehr Kreativität, mehr machen (hoffe ich haha) 💃🏻

Deleting a picture in wet plate photography looks like this. It’s possible to carefully wash the thin layer of collodion off the glass plate while it’s still wet. If you wait until the chemicals are dried down you risk scratching the glass surface, making the plate useless for another exposure.
