2024 highlights :) Climbing in City of Rocks last summer was certainly my favorite part of the year. Got to tick some dream routes, enjoy being in my favorite place, and have fun with a quality group of friends. Literal heaven 😍

I had a blast hiking and trailrunning all over, especially in Glacier National Park. Already scheming for more adventures there. Also did my longest trail link up ever (35 miles in Zion which pushed me past my limit). ⛰️

I got to visit El Potrero Chico twice in 2024! I feel spoiled. Such a pleasure to climb endless limestone and be around fun people. 🧗

Did some other climbing I was proud of, including another first female ascent (which tied for my hardest redpoint ever) a few months after my 4th ankle surgery. Always rewarding to get a personal best, particularly after working hard in recovery. 🙏 And I have some big climbing goals for as soon as my body is healed this year.

Got to spend a little time with my niece/nephew, and gained another niece I still need to meet! 🥰

Practiced more fiddle, archery, chess, and pool to keep expanding my skillsets and have fun!

Feeling a lot of gratitude for last year, the adventures I got to experience, the personal growth, and the people in my life who make everything sweet. 🖤🌞

Thanks to all of you for the support! And thanks to @thedesertrat_sg @hilx @cypherclimbing @libmtn @cruxpowerclimbing for believing in me ✨

And what do we say to the people who try to put us in a box? Nothing. We set the box aflame and dance in the flickering light, greedy for its smoke. Life is uncontainable.

Your existence is not meant to be small. In fact, it’s not meant to be anything at all — and therein lies its beauty. Endless possibilities.

Freedom cannot be passively given or received; you must reach out, grab it, and hold on like hell.

What are you going to do with your liberty? Stare at it hesitantly like a bug trapped in your cupped palm, surprised that you caught it in the first place? You’re still alive, dammit, so act like it.

Actively claiming your freedom is only the first step.
Beyond that lies all of the fun.
Beyond that lies infinity.

It’s December, which means it’s my climbing anniversary! As I enter my 21st year of climbing, I’m feeling super grateful that I’ve gotten to make climbing the focus of my life. 🧗

To celebrate, I wanted to do something a bit different this year — so here are some of the most important lessons I’ve learned through climbing. 🧠

1. You only control the effort, not the outcome.
2. Believing you can hold on often matters more than anything else when climbing at your limit, and is the determining factor between sending or falling.
3. The climb will still be there another day. Be safe enough to make sure you’ll still be around, too. No climb is worth your life or health.
4. The people you surround yourself with have a huge impact on your experience. Choose wisely.
5. If you’re having a bad time, you’re doing something wrong. Time to reevaluate and make a change.
6. Don’t have all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your life and interests. If (when) you ever get injured, it’ll be much more pleasant if you have other passions to keep you occupied.
7. Training only gets you so far. Time on the rock leads to mastery, and will be what you remember/cherish the most (and let’s be honest, it’s way more fun too).
8. Focus on having a problem-solving and possibilities-centered mindset (“I wonder…”) rather than cursing reality and the things you can’t change (“I wish…”).
9. You get stronger on your rest days. And you can only get stronger if you’re eating enough.
10. Living in a constant state of gratitude will reward you with endless positive energy and joy. Be thankful for the place you’re in, the people you’re with, the route developer, your belayer, nature’s beauty, your health and physical ability, your privilege to be able to go climbing at all, etc… and you will fall in love with your life.

Gonna try to make the next couple decades of climbing even more fun. 🎉🧗☺️

Gonna try to make the next couple decades of climbing even more fun. 🎉🧗☺️

Getting to meet clients in person (and climb together) is so wonderful! Was psyched when @jessicadianadyer came to the desert last month. 😍

We did an intensive 1:1 gym training session with a coaching focus on movement, technique, and tactics @contactclimbing. It was awesome to finally get to meet up after working together remotely for so long.

Then, we got to enjoy a lovely day climbing together in Red Rock (along with her partner Rob)! Jess works so hard and has an amazing attitude — and she’s seen remarkable progression in her climbing since I’ve known her!

In Red Rock, it was great to see her confidently leading, and also trying harder routes on toprope that she normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to get on. She (and Rob) crushed it! So much fun.

4- Me (Fallon) onsighting ‘Cactus Root’ sport 5.11c to put up a TR for them
5- Jess top roping a different 5.11 I put up as well
6- Jess on another lead!
7- Jess and Rob ☺️
8- Me (Fallon) flashing ‘Panty Raid’ 5.10a trad during a chilly morning start. 🙌

I love my job more than anything! So lucky I get to coach, share knowledge, and connect with such incredible people through climbing. Thank you Jess and Rob for a lovely visit!

Fun bouldery short overhang route yesterday with @christian__andrus 🤩 Surprised myself with this one feeling easy, took it down super fast. I’m better on steep/powerful climbing than I usually give myself credit for haha.

Also sent a fun vert 5.12b just before this called Plausible Deniability. Always nice to get back to back sends in a session! Feeling strong. Time to transition to high elevation crags with the summer heat!

Trip recap! Coached at the Paraclimbing World Cup in SLC last week. Thank you @crystal_likes_adventures for the opportunity — I’m stoked for you and so proud of your hard work. 🥳 I’m honored that I get to be a part of events like this through my coaching biz @sage.sending 🙌 I have the best job in the world.

1- coaching/comp prep at the USA Climbing training center.
2- @crystal_likes_adventures climbing in qualifiers!
3- felt so official 😎
4- the USA Climbing training center is amazing

5- I did my own training session at the Front one day of the trip, really enjoyed onsighting this boulder (probably V6 ish?) and many other boulders. Such good routesetting!!!

6- got to see my bestie @sarah.stock.137 💗
7- got to visit my sweet grandma 🥰

Overall a very successful trip, despite getting food poisoning on the last day (ugh, all better now thankfully)!

Been staying busy with coaching, grad school, and my own climbing 😍🙏 Grateful for all of it!

Weekend warriors at City! Onsighted ‘Hyperspuds’ (5.11c trad/mixed)—the highlight of the trip for me since it had been on my to do list for ages. 🤩

1- selfie on top of Bath Rock with @christian__andrus (always start a City trip with a Bath solo to get the head screwed on right for runouts!)

2- timelapse of my onsight of ‘Hyperspuds’ ☺️

3 and 4-Christian also sent it!

5- amazing gluten free vegan smore I made 🤤

6- @christian__andrus on Bath Rock, first lap of the trip

7- @christian__andrus sent Meningitis (5.12b)! I got another burn on it to review beta. It really comes down to 3 moves lol

8- 🥰 out at Checkered Demon — @christian__andrus onsighted and I got the follow-flash (since someone has to follow to clean it … I will have to return to lead it)

9- someone on Elephant Rock, so beautiful

Can’t wait for more days up in City this year! 💗

Can’t seem to quit no matter how bad it gets… but did end up bailing after ugly crying at the top of this pitch because of the pain. Managing to onsight even when it feels like your joints are crumbling and your tendons are being shredded and set on fire is a fine art. #paraclimbing

My relationship with crack climbing has been forced to take a backseat the past 6ish years. I love it so much but my body really doesn’t tolerate it. Small doses, I guess.

Going to try some new meds soon from my rheumatologist (an endless quest to find anything I can tolerate). Fingers crossed

Thank you @christian__andrus for being the most supportive, patient, understanding partner I could ever hope for 🩷

Client wins make this the most amazing job ever. ❤️ So lucky I get to do what I do! I love being a coach. I love all of the wonderful people I get to work with, and helping them on their unique journeys. Climbing has so much to offer, and custom coaching can really optimize the experience (especially if you have a unique consideration or chronic illness). 🙏

DM me with questions or visit my website to book a free exploratory call to discuss coaching options. 🤩

Challenging myself to climb my anti-style more! Fun powerful overhanging boulder. Really enjoyed this one! First couple goes I sorted out the beginning of the problem. Then on my third go I sent! So I was flashing the rest. 🧗🤠

I haven’t bouldered much since shattering my foot and ankle in a bouldering accident in 2017. But it’s been good to get back out there, especially on lowballs with flat landings like this. ☺️ Trying to get stronger at this kind of movement so it’ll translate to my sport climbing goals.

✅ Backhoe Right V5, Moe’s Valley UT

Also thank you @stio for the new clothes!! 🤩🥰 Been LOVING all of my Lucent tank tops. I have it in so many colors because I’m obsessed. Very lightweight and airy. I get overheated easily so these are a MUST for the desert heat.

The new @stio Bounder shorts have been wonderful too! Probably my new favorite Stio shorts. Quick dry, comfy waistband, and the 5” inseam option is nice for climbing (no wardrobe malfunctions 😂🙈) which is key. Yay!

Stio is running a 72 hour flash sale with 30% off using my code S2630-FALLON (only 4/15-4/17). Jump on it for the best Stio deals and get ready for summer!

Having my best season in a long time. 🤩🧗 So grateful to have alignment in my body feeling strong, the weather being (mostly) amazing, friends who wanna get out, and my schedule being flexible since I work for myself @sage.sending. 🤠 Been getting out to tons of amazing local crags and having a blast 🩷

This route (“Tiger Style” 5.12+) has been on my radar for a few years and I finally mustered the try hard to give it a shot this season. 2 sessions in now and I really love it! Very challenging for me since the bottom boulder is powerful and the rest of the climb is pumpy with marginal rest options. The upper section of gastons/side pulls with teeny feet is so dope too! Psyched! Thank you @eeejayenn for such a sick climb in an awesome position.

Thanks @emilyryberg for the videos and @k__seli for the belays, and both of you for the fun girls day and mega support! 🥰🙏 Excited to keep trying this route.
