I’ve got a lot of appreciation for this big small city. Detroit has shown me so much of the world and really empowered me along in my career, giving me perspective and keeping me grounded.
And most importantly, I’ve made friends and family for life in this city.

At @undergroundmusicacademy students are given a launchpad for the next chapters of their careers, “teleporting them through the past into the future,” says its founder @waajeed This past May, director @evanzott documented the journeys of nine UMA students and community members as they prepared to perform onstage at Detroit’s Movement Festival.
 
Created in collaboration with @carharttwip Zott’s film explores UMA’s 2024 Elements Course alongside promoter and producer @movementdetroit @paxahau the Detroit Techno Foundation, and Resident Advisor. I’m proud to share the official music video for “Get Me In the Zone” featuring the incredible @char.xxvi is now live on YouTube. This track is for the dancers, and seeing it come to life visually is something I’ve been so excited to share with you all. Can’t thank @milesbonny enough for setting the tone for visuals @skinnytrell_ for his direction, @therealjimel for his vision as DP, @evanzott for the amazing edit and @clarksvisions for pulling it together with color correction.
