Beyond honored to get to watch the unmatched talent that is @ashleyparklady sing the hell out of “Ruins” in the season finale of @emilyinparis on @netflix - a song I was lucky enough to co-write with @freddywexler ! Freddy is a songwriter’s songwriter, someone who puts as much heart into every note as he does craft and patience. And only Ashley could have sung it with such power and grace. sometimes I feel like being a theatre composer is a test of just how long my own delusions will hold up. YEARS go by, holed up in your apartment writing and rewriting with seemingly no end in sight.

but that’s because a good musical takes years to get right - and moments like this, when you finally get to show your weird secret little project to the world, make it all worth it. and I truly believe what we’re making with Take the Lead has been worth every minute it’s taken to get here.

so so deeply proud to be having my first-ever major regional production with this incredible team and this incredible show. thank you to @evarprice and @dianenabatoff for believing I could actually pull this off, to @zenibanow for being the best collaborator and co-composer/lyricist a human being could ask for, to @cgattelli @jenniferwebernyc @maria.torres.official @robert.cary1 and @jontolins for being the definition of a dream team, and to @papermillplayhouse for having us. everyone come see Take the Lead next march/april!!!
