The traditional gabled form of the main volume is interrupted by a flat dormer extending from exposed chimney to chimney. The dormer cantilevers over a full height glazed exterior wall to provide cover for an exterior deck set into the roof framing of the one-story exterior porch below.⁠

The meandering horizontal light elements are suspended from stainless steel tubes and braced by pre-tensioned cables. The organic shape of the sculpture required careful analysis to ensure proper load paths through the hangers and cables.⁠

This installation, located in Stanford, CA, is the largest in this series by artist @leo_villareal. Standing 30 feet tall, the outer most sphere sits atop a concrete pedestal and supports two hanging internal spheres (both 20-feet and 10-feet respectively). Each sphere is assembled from custom fabricated “strut” and “node” members by @4thstatellc.⁠
