Please join us for the opening of Cédric Rivrain “System” on Friday, May 22, 6-9 pm.
“Cédric Rivrain is an artist of the interstice, sensitive to those few seconds — perhaps even to the singular second — between beings, and opening onto the immortal. In System, the artist’s first exhibition in Canada, Rivrain situates himself within a doubly biographical logic, rooted in a childhood memory first structured by two regimes of images: on the one hand, the anatomical plates of his father, a doctor, disposed throughout his childhood home; on the other, the devotional images arranged by his mother, a devoted Catholic. From this coexistence emerges a dual knowledge of the body, at once scientific and symbolic, and of what lies beneath. Within this resides a tenderness toward the concealed, the masked — prohibition, limit, and taboo.”
— Hugo Bausch Belbachir (@hugobauschbelbachir)
Cédric Rivrain lives and works in Paris. Solo exhibitions include Fitzpatrick Gallery, Grand Garage Haussmann, Paris (2025); Fitzpatrick Gallery, Los Angeles (2024); Fitzpatrick Gallery, Paris (2021); Shanaynay, Paris (2018); and Balice Hertling (2015.) Group exhibitions include Braunsfelder, Cologne (2025); Frac MECA, Bordeaux (2025); Synagogue de Delme (2025); Shmorévaz, Paris (2024); MO.CO, Montpellier (2023); Medium P, Frankfurt (2021); Treize, Paris (2020); and Sans Titre , Paris (2017, 2016). He has published two books: Cendré (2018), with Rodrigue Fondeviolle, and Selected Drawings (2011), through Do.Pe. Press.

Announcing representation of Erwan Sene, whose current solo exhibition “Checked or four attacks that will never happen” is on view at the gallery and now extended through May 16.
Erwan Sene’s installations unfold as a dense sculptural field, made of intricate layers of sound, material, and movement. Found objects like streetlamp casings, metal grates, and PVC piping are embedded alongside cast resin, hand-cut wood, or fabricated hardware, with no visible distinction between salvaged and newly made elements. This collapse of hierarchy insists that nothing—no part, no gesture—is more authored than another. His materials form a relational assemblage, drawing the viewer into a multi-sensory encounter. To enter the space is to be enfolded, metabolized into its circuitry. This erasure of stratification extends into Sene’s sound practice. His compositions, like his sculptures, are thick with texture and equivalence: metallic clatter folds into drone, and field recordings glitch on percussive bursts. No foreground or background. Only planes of intensity that press against one another. His practice points to an economy of life: a system of circulation and transformation, where modular components are hacked and reconfigured into new machinic organisms. Encrypted languages from Morse code to medieval criminal argot are sampled alongside bodily and urban sounds. Stomach gurgles and sewer flows intone a shared anatomy between human and city. Where agent and infrastructure coalesce, Sene’s works function like living circuits, interlinked, interdependent, and in transmission.
Erwan Sene (b. 1991, France) is a Paris-based artist and musician. Recent solo exhibitions include Bonny Poon/Conditions, Toronto (2026); 032C, Berlin (2025); Liebaert Project, Kortrijk (2023); and Balice Hertling, Paris (2023). He is included in the forthcoming 18th Biennale de Lyon. His debut album, JUnQ, was released by PAN in 2023.

Courtesy is a Danish artist and DJ who lives and works in Berlin. With a fluid relationship between her work as a DJ, composer, musician and visual artist, Courtesy is interested in making cross-referential connections between sound, image, text, and performance, as seen in her music video work and her sound and choral series ‘Gossip II’. Courtesy has exhibited and performed at CCA Berlin, Treize, Den Fri Udstillingsbygning, Conde Duque Contemporary Culture Center, k-t z, Arken and Schinkel Pavillon. As a DJ, Courtesy has toured extensively around the world, and played venues and festivals such as Berghain/Panorama Bar, Tresor, Sonar, Primavera, Club to Club, Atonal, Hamburger Bahnhof, Städel Museum and Sustain-Release. She maintains a residency on NTS Radio and is the founder and artistic director of the interdisciplinary arts platform Against Interpretation Club fka. Kulør, curating epochal music releases, publications and events. She released her sophomore studio album ‘intimate yell’ in October 2024.
Against Interpretation Club
How much art can you put in a nightclub? Courtesy invites you to an experience between a group show and a dance party. ‘Against Interpretation Club’ is a night where musicians, DJs, and contemporary artists explore performance, music and sound. Like an opening that keeps going after the lights are turned off.
Against Interpretation Club is a touring concept, presented so far at Panorama Bar/Berghain, OHM/Tresor Berlin, RAUM Amsterdam, Schinkel Pavillon and ICA London.
We are happy to announce our collaboration with Courtesy on the next Against Interpretation Club, taking place on May 1 at OHM Berlin. Look forward to performances and DJ sets by Ruth Angel Edwards, Stuart McKenzie, Erwan Sene, evin, and Courtesy; and an all night video program with Sam Lipp, Bruce LaBruce, Dean Sameshima, Rob Kulisek, Marie Karlberg, and Mara McKevitt.
