I am absolutely thrilled to announce that my fourth poetry chapbook, Celestial Body, will be available for purchase on June 20!!! This chapbook is a little special—all proceeds from it will go toward funding my upcoming short film, Nebulous. ✨
The themes in both the film and collection go in tandem. These poems attempt to explore the miraculous experience of being a person while enduring all of the complicated feelings that come with it. Being the caretaker of a soul can feel strange and heavy, especially while navigating so-called destiny. In Celestial Body, I examine the wondrous beauty of living while acknowledging the existential torment that comes with it. It’s a weird thing to be grateful and resentful; inspired but perplexed. The fact that humans are made of stardust is a comforting idea which I’ve often returned to, especially while writing these poems. We are a product of cosmic splendor, our bodies and minds are something to be marveled at just as much as the other natural phenomena around us. Reflections, connections, resurrections, confessions…all of it, all of it, ALL of it!!!!! Can’t wait to visit u on the page again :’))

I was enchanted by this euphonium cover of House Song so it sparked an idea…I’ve also been wanting to use this super cool video from UNC Health that captured how your neurons look in the hippocampus when you’re expressing thought. It looked to me like an art piece someone made but nope it’s just how effortlessly beautiful the human brain is. COOOOLLLL STUFFFFF📽️

“to the library” is also an allusion to Virginia Woolf’s “to the lighthouse”! And Fiction wears an “emerald broach” because The Wizard of Oz is the first fantasy movie I remember ever seeing. Thank you for listening and I hope u like this one it’s super special to me 😁 #poetry
