Representation matters. I may not be very vocal about my intended impact on the game but I think my actions speak for themselves. You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Blessed to have more than enough to choose from 🫶🏾💙💙

So… transparent moment. A few weeks ago, we were able to help with a Nike campaign to celebrate Gigi’s 16th birthday. It’s kind of a surreal feeling being able to see your photography used in such a meaningful way. I have a lot of conversations with younger creatives about having and finding purpose in your work. Kobe once told me, that my photographs would make a difference once day. Imagine the irony.
When we moved to California almost 10 years ago, I was bitter about not playing basketball professionally and I hated the place I moved from. I felt like I served no purpose and it felt weird not playing the game of basketball. Now, today I feel the exact opposite because I understand what my purpose is. I know that I am here to help tell stories and the fact that I can contribute to the game of basketball in a way I’d never imagined I would, is literally a dream come true.
I’m not posting this to brag, or to get a pat on the back, but I am posting to acknowledge the journey that myself, @shotbyjuan_ and @brandon.dah have had up until this point. Sleepless nights, driving all over So Cal, every… single… day. We did it all to find purpose and to have a impact. The goal was always to leave the world better than we found it, not to seek clout, not to chase around high school kids, but to actually make a difference.
I mean no disrespect in my words, but I do hope my fellow creatives continue to find purpose, continue to find your why, because in the end, the work, the work will be that much better and fulfilling. Maybe in the near future we can share our story with you guys, but until then, stay blessed, stay focused, and don’t let anything stop you from being great. 💙💙💙 #PlayGigisWay
