I drank from the world and wasn’t satisfied. I’ve decided to drink from the river of living waters and eat from the bread of life. All glory to Jesus. 🙌🏾✨

“Trying to hold everyone else above the waves, while I’m the one sinking.”

At Carifesta XV, our Theatre Arts ensemble presented the moving production “We Came From the Sea” at Saltwater Tongue—a powerful reflection on our shared history and resilience, rooted in the story of African slavery. Written by Alistair Phipps, Elishah St. Juste, and Dylan Browne, and performed by Jahavid Allen alongside the writers themselves, the piece transported audiences through time, evoking the struggles endured and the strength that continues to define us. 🎭🌊

🎬✨ From roots to reels, the journey begins!

Our delegate Dylan Browne took part in the “Roots to Reels” Filmmaking Workshop at Carifesta XV, gaining valuable insight into the art of storytelling through film. With a vision to step into the world of filmmaking, Dylan is ready to turn creativity into captivating cinema.

We’re excited to see how this new chapter unfolds! 🌟

We’re beyond proud of another outstanding member Dylan Browne, who performed in the 2025 Large Band Panorama Finals! 🇰🇳🎶

Dylan made history as the 5th musician from St. Kitts & Nevis to grace this prestigious stage, playing Double Seconds with the First Citizens Supernovas Steel Orchestra. Known for his skill on the Single Tenor and his vibrant spirit, he’s been a shining light in the pan community since 2010.

Even more inspiring Dylan achieved this milestone while pursuing his university studies! Balancing books and pan wasn’t easy, but his dedication and discipline made it possible. It meant long nights and early mornings, but his love for music and commitment to excellence kept him going.

We asked Dylan a few questions about his incredible journey:

Q: How did you manage your studies while preparing for Panorama?
🗣 “Time management and sacrifices played a major role. It meant coming home after 1 a.m. from practice, taking a quick nap, then waking up to complete assignments and prepare for class. It wasn’t easy — but definitely not impossible. I had to stay focused, stay disciplined, and remind myself why I was doing this in the first place.”

Q: What was the biggest difference in the band setting in Trinidad compared to home?
🗣 “Besides the size of the band, the speed of learning and adapting to new music stood out. In Trinidad, because of the sheer number of bands and the competition’s structure, arrangements often change between the prelims, semis, and finals. That pushes the players to adapt quickly and learn new material at an incredible pace. It’s a level of intensity and creativity that really challenges you to grow.”

From being a founding member of EBJ in 2015 to stepping onto the big stage in Trinidad in 2025, we here at the Bank of Nevis EBJ Harmonics Steel Orchestra are ecstatic and proud of Dylan’s journey. We would also love to say thank you to the First Citizens Supernovas Steel Orchestra for turning a dream into reality!
