Bloom watch: One of the Garden’s rare ghost orchids (Dendrophylax lindenii) is now on display in the Tropical Greenhouse. This unique, leafless orchid clings to trees with pale, ghostly roots, and the Garden is one of the few institutions in the world to have the plant. We anticipate the bud to bloom in about 4 to 5 days, so check back for updates!

For #MothersDay, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the family stories that shape us. Stop by the Regenstein Center’s Krehbiel Gallery and experience a meaningful installation by exhibits horticulturist Jason Toth. Featuring a canoe his grandmother and her family took on a trip to Lake Superior more than 60 years ago, this piece invites visitors to recount the experiences shared with or stories told of their mother or grandmother.

Can cultivars attract pollinators? 🐝 New research says yes.
Scientists at the Garden’s @NegauneeInstitute and horticulturists working in the Plant Evaluation Program collaborated to analyze pollinator activity across a mix of native plants and their cultivated counterparts. The findings, recently published in Ecosphere, indicated that some cultivars attracted similar numbers of pollinators as native plants. Learn more about the study and how thoughtful plant choices can create a garden that’s both beautiful and beneficial by clicking on the link in our profile.
Authors for the study are part of the Program in Plant Biology and Conservation—a partnership between @weinbergcollege and the Garden.
